Hoodia
What is Hoodia
Hoodia is a succulent plant (like a cactus) that grows in the Kalahari desert of South Africa.
It has gained recent popularity among celebrities and has been discussed on Oprah due to its ability to suppress your appetite.
How Does Hoodia Work
Hoodia was first noted by western scientists in 1937 when an anthropologists noted the Bushmen in the Kalahari desert used Hoodia to fight hunger when they went on long hunting trips.
Scientists from the Phytopharm pharmaceutical company studied the plant and determined its active ingredient was a compound known as P57. They are now working on a way to extract this compound and reproduce it in the form of an anti-obesity pill.
Basically, Hoodia works because it is able to fool your body into thinking it is not hungry—which of course could mean fewer runs to the refrigerator or late night binges.
When Not To Take Hoodia
Hoodia is a natural product and is generally safe to use. However, it can be dangerous if used improperly, or by people at risk of side-effects.
First, I would not recommend you take Hoodia unless you have spoken to your doctor about it. People at particular high risk include those with diabetes, heart disease, blood clotting disorders, and anorexia.
Hoodia may also be harmful to your baby if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Oprah recently discussed the advantages of using phentremine to lose weight. This pill has been the object of quite a bit of controversy lately, but overall may help you lose weight.
My one issue with this weight loss pill is that its main ingredient can be obtained in other forms. Phentremine does not have a monopoly on this product. You do have options
Phentremine is basically made from Hoodia, which can be found in 100’s of other dietary supplements.
